From thesis defense… to research conference stage!
I recently had the opportunity to present our thesis project, the Regulatory Compliance Verification (RCV) System, during ResCon at the iTechtivity 2026 event in University of Caloocan City.
The iTechtivity event is a university-wide initiative where the Computer Studies Department showcases student-built systems designed to create meaningful, real-world impact through digital solutions.
Out of 38 participating teams, I’m truly honored that our team was recognized with this extraordinary achievement. What started as sleepless nights, debugging sessions, and system architecture discussions turned into something bigger:
- Best Technical Documentation
- 3rd Place for overall Best Presenter
- Certificate of Completion From Bureau of Animal Industry, Philippines
- Recommendation Letter From Bureau of Animal Industry, Philippines
Winning Best Technical Documentation means a lot to us, it validates not just what we built, but how well we understood, structured, and communicated a complex system.
As for presenting, this was a different kind of challenge. It wasn’t about code anymore, it was about clarity, confidence, and impact.
Standing there reminded me:
A system only creates value when people understand it.
This experience pushed me beyond development into leadership, communication, and ownership of the work we created.
Grateful for my team, our adviser, and everyone who believed in what we’re building.
More than the awards, this experience reassured me that the principles I believe in as a software developer building with purpose, communicating clearly, and creating systems that people can trust are in the right place.
This experience pushed me beyond development into leadership, communication, and ownership of the work we created.
A note to myself is that there is still so much to learn, and this is only the beginning of a much bigger journey ahead.
Grateful for my team, our adviser, and everyone who believed in what we’re building.
